Scope

This amendment adds an optional alternative suitable and inclusive terminology to the terms "master" and "slave" but it does not replace the terms "master" and "slave" In addition, the amendment fixes errors in the standard and clarifies unclear passages.

Abstract

Amendment Standard - Active.This amendment to IEEE Std 1588-2019 identifies alternative terms for "master" and "slave" used in implementations or PTP profiles; identifies alternative names for port state names; and identifies abbreviations for clock roles or port states.
